TITTIES! Oops, I Mean TETONS!!

After my trip planning fail, we made it to the Tetons! Tetons=titties.

(That’s true, by the way.)

Thank god, we were finally out of the dust and desert and into the MOUNTAINS! It was mid-May, 2017.

Upon getting there and almost not being able to get into my spot due to a TEENY TINY slope+a touch of snow on the ground, I went inside my rig. (Stupid 2 wheel drive)

I was greeted by this ‘I used to be a plate’ plate.

Broken plate

Well, that’s one way to downsize. And, now my plates AND bowls equal three each. (A bowl once greeted me like this as well)

Trixie was at least temporarily happy about the snow. Gizmo, not so much.

Didn’t QUIIIIIITE expect this! But again, I was the one planning…

Tetons with solar + slingshot
You can see that my truck tires were spinning and flinging mud trying to get up this ant hill. Never 2 wheel drive again!

Parked and set up at the Lower Teton spot, we drove out to explore.

Disappointment did not happen. The first black bear of the season found our cameras! (well, iPhones)

Gorgeous! As long as I am inside my truck.

Does a bear shit in the woods? Apparently so. 😂

Man, I didn’t think of bears as grass grazers.

This place was fairly full of wildlife although I didn’t see it all. There were plenty of hints though…

Scat-a-licious area. All these prints were around the upper and lower teton view spots. There’s a lot of good areas and trails/roads to explore around this camping spot.

Trixie left me some of her own personal brand of ‘I’ve been here’ as well on my booth cushion. I got to kneel in it before I knew it was there.

Trixie vomit

Dammiiiiiiit.

Well, at least The Girls enjoyed the sights…

Lucky Teton Girls

…Until Gizmo found out the hard way how uneven the grass was during a sprint…

Only the ego is bruised.

Dang Gizmo! Gots to be more careful! If you know me, you know I AM glad I caught that one on camera.

IMG_4628
See? She’s fine. Still sprinting even today

So a little checking out of the Jackson square was also in order. Cute little town. They have these antler arches on every corner of the central square. Keeps the damn tourists from piling up for photos. Me? A tourist? No way. 😂

IMG_1521

Looking at alllllllllllll those antlers made me feel another ‘stuff’ purge coming on. I did it again. Went through my 2 dinky drawers and under my sink to get rid of all of this:

IMG_4670
Excessive Tupperware, command strip adhesives, utensils, an extra flashlight I didn’t need, the box for envelopes and glass plus??? Seriously? I’ll say it. Spit is THE best window cleaner. And I don’t clean my windows. I squeegee them at the gas station. Once or twice a year, lol! No, I don’t use my spit for that.
IMG_4659
Following in my mom’s footsteps in the pen/pencil hoarding category. These have to go. (I have some left, yes. Like 2 pencils, 2 pens, 2 sharpies and whatever is in my truck.
IMG_4660
Just, waaaaaay too many hooks and backings without hooks to match. Been carrying this around with me from day one. “What if I need it one day?” I’ll go buy exactly what I need. From a store. Available everywhere.

IMG_4978
All these hair accessories I hardly EVER wear, or haven’t used in 2 years. As well as the pencil holder. Pencils/pens are in drawer. Don’t need this.

Well, when we had arrived at the Lower Teton spot, Upper Teton view was still closed. We watched the ranger OPEN it right in front of our eyes a few days after we got there . We beat feet, hitched up and were the FIRST to get up there to claim the spot with the primo view! Talk about THE most amazing spot ever!

IMG_4682
I mean… come on. It’s FREE accomodation for a couple of weeks. This would cost about 3K-6K (or more?) for two weeks in a hotel with this view.
IMG_4779
Seriously? It’s like a painting framed by my window. But better.
IMG_4840
Right???????????????

However, once I started to unhitch, I noticed something. What’s that? Oh! My hitch was coming undone! Greeeeeat. Note to self and others: Check your HITCH parts regularly for issues like this: (I doctored it all up for you so you don’t have to look at my ugly rig tounge and such. I thought it would be funny. Turns out it’s not.)

Hitch unhitching

See the slippage at the bolt there? I mean, it’s not coming off, but that’s not how it’s supposed to be, either. Got that tightened back up in a jif. (Thanks, Marshall. Seriously, everyone needs a Marshall.) 😂

Marshall chilling with the Trixie at one of the most scenic spots in the world.

Next outing was to Rockefeller Preserve which borders Teton NP. Hiked Phelps Lake loop. Saw a moose! Got video but it’s way too pathetic to add here.

Also saw this very bold and I figured, curious, Marmot. I dug him. Therefore, I thought I would set him up for hopefully an epic video. Little man did not disappoint.

I think he WOULD have stolen my iPhone and ran back to his den with it if I let him. So I was ready to chase him off if he got too close. He got all the way up to it. It made for some very up close and personal video action!

Phelps lake was gorgeous, too. Check it:

Yeah, I boosted the color a little. Shoot me. I like to see things a little more colorful than in normal daily life!

Schwabacher’s Landing

This is one of those places everyone tells you to go. So, I did. Great photo op but best in the morning. So out of bed, I dragged my ass. EARLY.

Funny the cluster of photographers that probably got there 2 hours ahead of me pile into the one little spot. Joke’s on them, I got the SAME photo as they did- just look!

FullSizeRender 7

Well, I got a bunch of photographer’s asses in the shot, too. This blog seems to have an ass theme. (You’ll see)

I also got this one below, once a few of them left. The light was better in the first photo. Still, DAMN.

Friends, Old And New

While we were there, we had a few friends come through. Here’s Jessie  of @JessieMonsters and @MilesAwayEveryDay- James and Rhiannon.

Butts, Y’all! Now you know them by their butts.

IMG_4675

Also among peeps we met were Mike and Kathie of @LifeRebootedMike and LifeRebootedKat.

IMG_1503

They have a really sweet black lab, and currently, they are having a whole new motorhome made from scratch! Nice peeps.

Also, there were Celeste and Matthew of WanderingNation.com. Thanks, Matthew, for the ‘get rid of your screens’ idea. No photo of them. Next post.

We also got to briefly met Scott and Kimberly of SerendipRv. They arrived the evening before we left and they got my spot at Upper Teton View.

We also met up with Becca and Sarah of @DailyRemote and @BeccaBe on Instagram. They were workamping at a campground in Jackson and we went out for a couple of drinks. Super nice chicks. They hadn’t yet met too many friendly full-timers from Instagram, surprisingly. So they were relieved and thought we were ‘cool’.

IMG_4891
Yeah… this is definitely what ‘cool’ looks like. Definitely the ‘cool’ kids. Definitely.

Lastly we hiked the Heron pond-Swan Lake loop. Sweet birding area!

Might be Swan Lake. Or Heron Pond. LOL!

Jackson Lake. Likely the most scenic lake I have seen to date in the USA.

Gizzie! You should be able to find her here. #NotAGame

Musical RVs After Dark

We did a funky/first time ever RELOCATION of all of our rigs in the Upper View spot the night before we left. Marshall and I were willing to move that evening so they could crawl into our spots so no-one would do so in the morning. I get it. I like to sleep in, too! It was really a weird thing to witness.

Serendip RV and Miles Away got their spots, as well as one other brand-new full-timer couple with a sweet Shasta.

We did our good deed for the day. 😂

Next time: West Yellowstone with Yoga flying positions, an unexpected re-creation of  one of the most famous Shawshank Redemption scenes, the successful gum repair, a night growl, and HOLY SHEEP!!!

  1. Your photos are awesome – and I think you add just the right amount of color. I don’t love when people over-saturate photos because it can look fake, but adding a bit of pop like this? Perfect! I can’t imagine how awesome that boondocking site was. I would just sit there taking the same photo over and over and over. It’s so beautiful it doesn’t even look possible! Mike and Kathie were our first RV friends… They’re from the same area as us and had the same rig as we have. They helped us so much with getting started. Great people. The RV community really is a small world!

    1. I completely agree on the oversaturation. And yes it is a very small community! And yes, I took a zillion photos from that spot! But eventually I scaled them down. It’s great because the clouds do the inversion thing as you can see in the photo from my back window. So the clouds always change , The colors change, the scene changes. It’s sickeningly beautiful! Y’all have to get there! Thanks for the sweet comment. ❤️👏🏻😊

  2. I cried a little at your throwing away good pens and pencils …One of the mechanical pencils had my “please return” sticker on it. You didn’t. 😞
